HOT’s careers, learning and employment event connects local people with employers from across Calderdale
Halifax Opportunities Trust (HOT) recently held its first ever HOT Opportunities Event at the Elsie Whiteley Innovation Centre, on Thursday 15th September 2022, to connect local people with providers of apprenticeships, employment support, volunteering and live employment opportunities.
The HOT Opportunities Event showcased a wide range of opportunities available through the Trust; from apprenticeships to Early Years careers, new skills to employability support, as well as volunteering and paid roles within the organisation itself.
Faye Gilling, Marketing & Communications Lead at HOT, reflects:
“The inaugural HOT Opportunities event welcomed around 70 people from the local community, all looking for various opportunities. We were pleased to see the Elsie Whiteley Innovation Centre buzzing with discussions about the employment and learning opportunities available through the Trust.
“As a local employer and one of the region’s largest charities, we have a range of vacancies that were showcased at the event, upholding our purpose of creating a vibrant multi-cultural and self-sustaining community. The event was also a great way for the Trust to collaborate with local employers and support them with reaching people seeking their next step.”
Alongside HOT, a number of well-known local organisations were present within an employer marketplace. Employers from a range of sectors across Calderdale were in attendance to discuss their industry and the roles they had available:
- Piece Hall
- Eclipse Energy
- Calderdale Council
- Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust
- Greenarc Energy
- Community Transport for Calderdale
- Redtronic
- UK Event Medical
With a wide range of roles available in a diverse mix of industries, the event proved a success, with 70% of stand holders happy with the footfall and that the profile of attendees was appropriate for their industry/roles. This is further proven through the number of applications and further enquiries received after the event, with over ten attendees applying for roles or sending on their CVs.
We’re extremely pleased with the success of the event and it was valuable in unlocking the opportunities available to attendees, as well as connecting candidates with employers.
