The event will take place on Thursday September 29th from 1.00-7.00pm at Halifax Borough Market.

The Calderdale Food Network is hosting this exciting event as a platform for networking and collaboration. It will bring together all those involved with food to celebrate positive actions and inspire commitment to the establishment of an equitable and sustainable regional food strategy

The Outback

The Outback team will host a stall at this event promoting food related activities, with Outback produce available to buy and try; we may even offer some simple plot to plate cooking demos at the marketplace.

The Outback Community Garden and Kitchen is a 1 hectare site based in Park Ward. It runs on organic and sustainable principles and the thriving garden is packed full of herbs, fruit and veg. There are lots of interesting areas for local people to explore and learn more about the natural environment whilst the straw bale kitchen provides a perfect space for the local community to gather and cook food.

Key Themes

The Calderdale Food Gathering shares similar principles and values with the Trust and the Outback, such as:

●      Sustainable Food Places Bronze Award  – a celebration of achievement and the pathway to silver

●      A  Food Strategy for Calderdale –  developing  an integrated approach to establishing a sustainable food strategy for the region.
