Since 2000, our charity has been firmly rooted within Park ward. As we have grown, so have the number of places and spaces we operate from. While a lot of the work we do is still in Park ward, we also have sites in central Halifax and across the Upper Valley.
Park ward is a vibrant and diverse part of Halifax, home to significant historic sites such as People’s Park, Lister Lane Cemetery and The Gibbet that tell the story of Halifax’s fascinating industrial past, when it was at the forefront of the textile production during the Industrial Revolution. Today Park Ward is one of the most culturally diverse areas in Calderdale where communities from around the world choose to settle to build their lives.
Hanson Lane Enterprise centre creates opportunities in many ways, for both individuals and businesses.
Not only is Hanson Lane Enterprise Centre home to many of our delivery teams, where lots of community groups, programmes and activities take place. It is also an enterprise centre, where businesses work from industrial units.
When Halifax Opportunities Trust first launched, Hanson Lane Enterprise Centre was the flagship site and we continue to work from here, over 21 years later.
Because we’ve been based here so long, many people visit
again and again, or bring their friends and family along, to get information about career and training opportunities, learn English language or gain wellbeing support.

You can learn, grow and volunteer at the Outback Community Kitchen and Garden; Park ward’s very own green space.
The Outback is a unique community kitchen and garden based in the heart of the Park Ward community, directly behind the Jubilee Centre. The 1 hectare site runs on organic and sustainable principles and the thriving garden is packed full of herbs, fruit and veg.
There are lots of interesting areas you can explore and learn more about the natural environment, whilst the straw bale kitchen provides a perfect space for our local community to gather and connect through cooking and eating healthy, locally-sourced food.

We run Family Hub services across a number of sites in Calderdale, so your family has a local support network.
Our Family Hubs improve outcomes for your children and your family, with a particular focus on those in greatest need. We’re here to support you as parents, so your children are ready to achieve their full potential.
Our venues are welcoming places where there are activities for families and children, health services, training opportunities and support. We are placed at the heart of communities so you can access help if you need it and provide the best possible start in live for your children. Our hubs are great for children to play and for you to meet and chat with other parents; our services are free to join and most activities are also free.
