Lead a Fuller

Life

Working with you for a healthier, happier life and stronger, safer community.

Being well and feeling happy and safe where we live is an aspiration that we all have and there is mounting evidence that proves that living a full and active life is really important for our physical and mental health.

We have developed a range of initiatives that focus on many important elements of feeling good and part of something. Whether that’s joining your local community organisers to create positive change, getting active or letting your creative juices flow at one of our weekly groups, it all contributes to a sense of fullfilment.

Projects

Staying Well

Staying Well is our flagship project to tackle social isolation within central Halifax.

We support people to engage in social activities and health services in the community. There are lots of community groups and all kinds of things to do, from Art to Zumba!

If you’re over 18 we can work with you to discover new things in your local area and make that first step out of the door. We run regular groups and workshops every week, as well as one-off get-togethers, so you have plenty of opportunity to get involved with social activities and health & wellbeing related services in the community.

Find out all the things you can get involved with through Staying well.

Tandrusti

Better Lifestyle, Better Health, Better You.

As part of our Community and Wellbeing focus, the Tandrusti programme uses non-clinical methods to support the South Asian community in to become healthier and happier through small and manageable lifestyle changes.

Our practical and community driven approach combines hands on learning with GP approved advice, so you are able to pass on the knowledge gained and share methods that are proven to improve health and wellbeing, for a more fulfilled life throughout the family.

The Outback Community Kitchen and Garden

Learn, grow and volunteer at the Outback Community Kitchen and Garden; Park ward’s very own green space.

The Outback is a unique community kitchen and garden based in the heart of the Park Ward community, directly behind the Jubilee Centre. The 1 hectare site runs on organic and sustainable principles and the thriving garden is packed full of herbs, fruit and veg. There are lots of interesting areas you can explore and learn more about the natural environment, whilst the carbon-neutral straw bale kitchen provides a perfect space for our local community to gather and connect through cooking and eating healthy, locally-sourced food.
